Sunday 8:45am.. A northeast-southwest ridge of ridge of high pressure will cross the Maritimes today giving mostly sunny skies and light winds. Thunderstorms are expected to break out across NB this afternoon and evening. These slow moving storms may produce significant rainfall, hail and strong winds. Things start to get complicated tomorrow as a weak cold front approaches the area. A trough of low pressure will develop tomorrow as well in the Gulf of Maine ahead of the cold front enhancing showers and thundershowers. Tuesday will see strong thunderstorms develop again especially for NB ahead of a second stronger cold front approaching from the west. This front is expected to cross the Maritimes Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Dryer and much cooler air moves in behind the cold front for Thursday and Friday then warm-up begins again for the weekend.
Precipitation.. Showers are possible later today especially western areas of the island. Showers continue into Monday through Wednesday. Difficult to determine rainfall amounts due to the convective nature of the systems. Significant rain could occur under slow moving individual storms.
Thunderstorms. Thunderstorms are expected to develop across NB later today and push into the island this evening. Storms are possible Monday with even stronger storms possible for Tuesday especially for NB. Will be watching for severe thunderstorm watches and warnings issued for the Maritimes during the Sunday evening through Tuesday night time frame.
Wind.. Basically a southerly wind through until early Thursday morning when a cold front will shift the winds to the northwest.
Temperatures. Above normal temperatures expected through Wednesday. Cool down occurs for Thursday and Friday then warm-up again for the weekend.
Forecast.. Mainly sunny, increasing clouds late this afternoon with a few showers and thundershowers possible this evening, light southerly winds, highs near 25.
