Showers possible across eastern areas tomorrow.

Thursday 5:40pm  A ridge of high pressure is currently crossing the Maritimes and as a result plenty of sunshine and westerly winds. This ridge will slide off to the east tonight and a weak low pressure system currently near the eastern Great Lakes with a warm front stretching eastward toward New England. An area of low pressure will develop along the warm front in the Gulf of Maine tonight then move toward southern NS overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. Showers will develop along southwestern NS tonight then cross the southern Maritimes during the overnight hours into tomorrow. There is concern that significant amounts of rain will fall from this system across southern regions which may clip eastern PEI tomorrow. Will know more as the system develops but rainfall warnings may be required for southern NS and NB. Skies will clear tomorrow afternoon/evening as this low pulls away to the northeast. Weak high pressure is expected to cross the region Friday night then another frontal trof is forecast to effect the area for Sunday with cloud and showers. Long range models are now conflicted for the beginning of next week so confidence is low but high pressure may build in giving a mainly sunny start to the week but some cloud and showers may develop through mid week.

Precipitation.. Few showers expected to develop during tomorrow near noon especially for eastern areas. Will have to watch the track of this system with a more northerly track bringing heavier rainfall amounts across the Island. Showers should begin on Sunday then again mid week.

Thunderstorms..At this time no thunderstorm activity expected through the forecast period but again a more northerly track of this system tomorrow may bring some embedded thundershowers across eastern PEI.

Wind.. Light/brisk west winds tonight shifting to southwesterly tomorrow morning then southeasterly tomorrow afternoon. A light northeast winds expected through Monday evening shifting to southerly on Tuesday morning.

Temperatures.. Expected to be at just below normal levels through the forecast period.
