Sunday 8:30am. A stationary east-west trough of low pressure is in place south of NS while a stationary ridge of high pressure lies across the northern Maritimes over the Gulf of St Lawrence. Several areas of low pressure will track along the stalled trough to the south over the upcoming days and the difficulty lies with the timing and precipitation shield associated with each. Unsettled weather will occur across the southern regions while sunshine is expected for areas farther north. Long range models for next week continue to disagree with the evolution of a couple of systems expected off the east coast, First the American models are hinting at a low pressure system will track across the region on Wednesday giving a days rain while the Canadian models keep this system offshore then on the weekend the Canadian models suggesting a significant low pressure system developing near Cape Cod and tracking into the Maritimes while the European and American models do not. Hence, confidence is low for next week and it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
