Sunday 6:30am An area of high pressure will remain anchored to the southeast of the Maritmes today and Monday allowing for a brisk southwesterly flow of warm humid air over the region. A cold front will approach from the west during the day on Tuesday with a risk of showers and thundershowers. Much cooler air will flood in behind this front for Wednesday through to the weekend.
Precipitation.. Showers should begin before noon on Tuesday and continue most of the day. Slight chance again on Wednesday.
Thunderstorms. Slight risk on Tuesday associated with the cold front.
Wind.. Brisk southwest winds today and tomorrow veering to northwesterly Tuesday night. Brisk west/northwest winds will continue through Friday with a slow shift back to the southwest for the weekend.
Temperatures.. Warm today, hot tomorrow followed by a cool down on Tuesday due cloud cover then cooler air behind thr cold front beginning on Wednesday.
Tropics.. Tropical storm Isaac is spinning about 200 miles ESE of Key west this morning and moving northwest with max sustained winds of 65 MPH. Issac is expected to strengthen into a hurricane is he passes north of the Florida Keys late tonight then continue strengthening making landfall somewhere along the Florida panhandle- Al/MS border Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The computer models are differing on the track the remnants will take and will need watching for a possible rain event along the east coast later in the week.
