Monday 7:45am High pressure that has been anchored southeast of the Maritimes is weakening and moving away, meanwhile a cold front approaching form the west will cross the PEI during the afternoon tomorrow. Cloud showers and thundershowers are expected to accompany this frontal passage. Much cooler and less humid air behind the front beginning Tuesday night. High pressure returns on Wednesday but a couple of upper air disturbances are expected to cross the region during the latter half of the week resulting in cloud and a chance of showers. The timing of these system will be difficult.
Precipitation. Showers should begin in west prince near dawn on Tuesday then progress eastward across the remainder of the island during the day ending near dawn on Wednesday. There will be a chance of showers both Thursday and Friday.
Thunderstorms.. Risk of storms on Tuesday.
Wind.. Brisk southwest winds today will veer to the northwest on Tuesday afternoon behind the cold front then basically a west/northwest wind for the remainder of the forecast period.
Temperatures.. Could be the last hot day of the season today with highs expected in the upper 20′s. Much cooler beginning Tuesday afternoon with temperatures near normal (Low 20′s) for the remainder of the week except for Friday when reading expected to be in the mid 20′s.
Tropics. Tropical storm Isaac is churning in the Gulf Of Mexico about 180 miles SW of Fort Myers, Florida and tracking WNW with max sustained winds of 65 MPH. The storm is battling a couple of things that are hindering it but it is expected to gain hurricane status in 24 hours then make land fall near New Orleans very early Wednesday morning. Will need to watch for any remnants of this system on the east coast for the weekend.
