Monday 6:15pm An east-west ridge of high pressure located south of the Maritimes this afternoon will slowly weaken this evening as a cold front approaches from the west. This front will bring showers and thundershowers to the island beginning near dawn up west then spreading across the remainder of the province during the morning. Rainfall amounts of 10-20 mms expected tomorrow associated with the front. High pressure is expected to build in over the region for Thursday and Friday but some moisture will be spreading across the Maritimes from the west during this period may produce a shower. Another cold front will cross the region on Saturday with another threat of showers and thundershowers.
Precipitation.. Showers will begin tomorrow morning near dawn across Prince county then spread eastward reaching Charlottetown near 10 am. Showers should come to an end Wednesday morning with 10-20 mms possible. Chance of showers again on Friday and Saturday.
Thunderstorms.. Risk of thundershowers beginning near noon tomorrow. then again on Saturday
Wind.. Brisk southwest wind should veer to the northwest behind the cold front first up west near noon then later in the day down east. Then basically a west-northwest winds expected for the remainder of the forecast period.
Temperatures.. Expected to be at or slightly below normal Tuesday through Thursday then a warm-up for Friday with highs back up in the mid/upper 20′s. Then a cool down again for Saturday/Sunday.
Tropics.. Tropical Storm Isaac is beginning to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. At 5:00pm today, the storm was located about 320 miles..515 KM SSE of Mobile Alabama with max sustained winds of 70 MPH. The storm is moving NW and is expected to become a hurricane later this evening then continue strengthening until landfall on the northern Gulf coast late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
