Warm, muggy and windy tomorrow, cool and windy for Saturday

Thursday 5:40pm  A low pressure system will cross the northern Gulf tomorrow afternoon and will drag a cold front across the Maritimes. A strong southwest wind tomorrow ahead of the cold front will allow temperatures to climb well above normal. Showers and thundershowers are expected to develop tomorrow as the front crosses the region. High pressure should then build in over the area for the weekend. A moist southerly flow will once again be established over the region beginning on Monday with some of the moisture from Isaac pushing into the island but computer models are not coming together on just how Isaac will effect the region so will wait for future models runs.

Precipitation.. Chance of showers possible this evening then developing again tomorrow afternoon with a chance of heavy downpours. Showers expected again for a few days beginning on Monday.

Thundershowers.. Slight chance of a thundershower this evening then again tomorrow evening/overnight.

Wind.. Brisk southwest wind tonight increasing to strong southwets tomorrow with gusts to 80 KMH possible especially along the south coast. Winds expected to shift to the northwest tomorrow evening behind the front. Strong northerly winds expected on Saturday with gusts to 80 KMH possible especially along the north shore. Northerly winds diminish on Sunday and shifting to southerly late Monday.

Temperatures.. Another warm day expected tomorrow followed by a taste of fall on Saturday with highs only in the mid teens. Back to seasonal on Sunday and Monday.

Tropics. Tropical storm Isaac is located in northern Louisiana this afternoon with max sustained winds of 40 MPH. Isaac is moving northwest now with a curve to the north then eastward passing south of the Great Lakes early Tuesday morning then towards the east coast on Wednesday. Some moisture form Isaac is expected in the Maritimes but amounts and timing is still unclear. There are 2 more systems churning in the Atlantic and both are expected to remain well offshore. ( We call these fish storms). Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Storm Leslie
