Showers developing Saturday evening, cooler on Sunday across PEI

Friday 6:40pm  An area of high pressure that has been responsible for the sunshine and warm temperatures for the past few days will weaken and move off to the southeast tonight and tomorrow. A deepening low pressure system in southern Quebec today will track northeast passing well north of the Maritimes on Saturday. This system will drag a cold front across the region Saturday night/Sunday morning. A secondary low pressure will develop south of the Maritimes and track north towards NFLD. Models don’t anticipate any effects from this system for PEI but a potential heavy rain event in store for western NFLD.  Cloud and showers will sweep across the Island associated with the cold front late Saturday night. High pressure will pass south of the Maritimes for Monday and Tuesday followed by another low pressure system on Wednesday. This system may tap into some tropical moisture so amounts could be on the heavier side. High pressure returns for Friday.

Precipitation.. Showers should begin Saturday evening ending Sunday morning with generally less than 5 mms expected. Rain should begin again on Wednesday but timing is still uncertain. This could be another heavy rain event as tropical moisture will be streaming north. Will have more details on this system in later posts.
