Showers tonight across PEI, Winds shifting to the northwest..falling temperatures

Wednesday 5:45pm  A north-south trough of low pressure across western PEI late this afternoon will continue to move east tonight then stall over the eastern regions over the next few days. Strong southerly winds were not quite a strong as I had anticipated but this same system brought many power related issues to many areas in New England. Winds will diminish this evening as the trough crosses. High pressure will try and build in form the west early next  week then another cold front swings though the region mid week.

Precipitation.. rain has moved into Queens county and will spread eastward this evening and taper to showers tomorrow morning. 10-20 mms possible overnight. Showers possible again on Friday. Another round of rain moves in for Saturday evening into Sunday with another 20mms possible before ending Sunday evening. Showers develop again on Wednesday as the next front approaches.

Thunderstorms. Can’t rule out a rumble of thunder tonight. Thunder possible again later Saturday.

Wind.. Southerly winds were gusting to 70 KMH today across the island but should begin to diminish from west to east this evening and shift to northwest before midnight. Light northeast winds tomorrow shifting to southeasterly early on Friday then southerly on Saturday. Increasing southwest winds on Sunday Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures.. Will begin to drop quickly this evening behind the frontal trough dipping to 11 by sunrise with highs tomorrow only at 14.  Temperatures return to normal Friday and continue through the forecast period.
