Thursday 6:15am. A cold front located along the east coast of NB this morning will continue to move eastward crossing the island over the next couple hours. Showers and brisk southwest winds ahead of the front will shift to northwesterly behind it. High pressure will build in over the Maritimes on later Thursday and crossing the island on Friday. Low pressure will approach the region on Saturday from the south spreading rain across the island Saturday night. Unsettled weather will continue Sunday and Monday as a series of low pressure systems track up the coast. Models are still having difficulty with this set-up but should begin to come together in future runs. This entire system should push off to the east on Tuesday allowing high pressure to build in for mid week.
Precipitation. Showers will end this morning with the passage of the cold front then begin again late Saturday evening ending on Tuesday morning. Models are having trouble nailing down where the heaviest rains will occur. As of now, hinting at 25 mms through Tuesday morning. Should know more as the systems begin to organize.
Thunderstorms. Since tropical air will be tapped, there will be a slight chance of thundershowers over the weekend.
Wind.. Brisk southwest winds will shift to the northwest this morning then diminish later today. Light northwest winds on Friday will shift to southeasterly early on Saturday morning increasing to brisk by evening.
Temperatures.. Steady near 16 this morning quickly dropping behind the cold front to 13 near noon today then holding steady. Temperatures at or slightly below normal for Friday and Saturday then becoming above normal through the weekend into early next week.
