Saturday 7:25pm.. A low pressure system near Cape Cod this afternoon will move slowly northward to lie in the Gulf of Maine by this evening then dissipate. Another system will develop across southern New England tonight and move northward into northern NB tomorrow. Significant amounts of rain are expected across eastern areas of the Maritimes over the next couple days as these systems work through the region. A ridge of high pressure will briefly build in for Tuesday giving dry conditions. Models begin to diverge for mid week but are leaning to another weak system tracking up the coast east of NS early Wednesday. High pressure returns for Wednesday night and Thursday followed by an unsettled weekend.
Precipitation.. 5:00pm rainfall in central PEI was at 8.8mms. This rain will taper to showers by dawn tomorrow giving an additional 10 mms. Showers will become periods of rain again tomorrow afternoon tapering to showers by Monday dawn with another 10-15 mms possible. Showers should end on Monday afternoon. Showers possible again early on Wednesday as the next system scrapes by to the east then showers again for the weekend.
Wind.. Brisk southeast winds tonight should diminish tomorrow then increase again on Monday shifting to southwesterly as the low tracks through NB. Diminishing westerly winds on Tuesday becoming northwesterly on Wednesday as the next system crosses the region.
