Sunday 10:00am.. A broad area of low pressure is located in the Gulf of Maine this morning and will track northward to reach northern Maine by tonight then northwestward into Quebec tomorrow. This low will bring another round of rainfall into the Maritimes today and tonight. High pressure will build in for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A frontal trough will swing through the region on Friday then linger over the area through the weekend.
Precipitation. The first round of rainfall has ended after dumping records amounts of rainfall over parts of NS. I recorded 25.4 mms (Elmwood Climate Station) as of 8:00am today. Chance of showers today will become periods of rain this afternoon tapering to showers overnight. Another 20-25 mms possible. Showers should continue through late Monday. Showers expected again late Thursday into Friday morning and continue through the weekend.
Wind.. Brisk southeast winds today becoming light southerly tomorrow then westerly on Tuesday. Light northerly wind son Wednesday becoming northeasterly on Thursday and Friday.
