Tuesday 7:30am.. A high pressure system centered over the Maritmes this morning will drift to the east tonight meanwhile a low pressure system will be approaching from the mid Atlantic coast on Wednesday with cloud and showers. A strong area of low pressure passing well to the northwest on the Maritmes will drag a cold front through the region on Thursday bringing in much cooler temperatures. An upper trough of low pressure will swing through the region bringing a reinforcing shot of cold air for the weekend as high pressure builds in. A warm front will begin to lift north across the area later Sunday bringing a temporary end to the cold.
Precipitation. Rain expected to begin late Wednesday evening and tapering tom showers by noon Thursday with amounts near 20 mms. Showers should continue into Friday giving another 5 mms. Rain is expected again late Sunday as a warm front approaches.
Winds.. Light east winds today and tomorrow increasing to brisk southerly early Thursday morning then shifting to brisk westerly near noon on Thursday. Brisk west winds continue on Friday and Saturday shifting to strong southwesterly on Sunday then northwesterly Monday.
Temperatures.. Staying cool today then warmer tomorrow into early Thursday then the cold front crosses resulting in falling temperatures through the day and lasting through Saturday. Sunday will see warming trend as southerly winds bring in milder air for Monday. Cooler air returns for Tuesday.
