Wednesday 6:55pm An intensifying north-south trough of low pressure located across western NB will move eastward tonight crossing PEI early Thursday morning. Strong southeast winds ahead of trough will shift to strong westerlies in its wake. Another trough will cross the region on Friday bringing more showers and a threat of flurries during the colder overnight hours. Cold high pressure will build in for Saturday then a warm from will begin to work into the area on Sunday bringing more rain and moderating temperatures. Low pressure will ride this warm front into the Maritimes for Monday then its associated cold front will swing through on Tuesday. High pressure returns for mid week.
Precipitation. Showers should begin near midnight and end near noon tomorrow giving 5-10 mms. Showers begin near noon on Friday ending late Friday night. Another 5-10 mms possible with this system. Showers/flurries possible on Saturday. Rain should begin again late Sunday afternoon tapering to showers late Monday with another 10 mms possible. Showers should continue into Tuesday as the cold front advances.
Thunderstorms.. Risk of thunderstorms early Thursday morning with the frontal passage.
Wind.. Southeast winds will increase tonight becoming strong by morning then shifting to strong westerlies before noon. Winds will diminish to brisk through the day. A shift back to the southwest on Friday ahead of the next system then back to the northwest Friday afternoon/evening. Brisk northwest winds continue on Saturday shifting and increasing to strong southwest on Sunday. Diminishing southwest winds on Monday shifting to light northerly on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Temperatures.. Will continue to warm up overnight tonight peaking in the mid teens near dawn then falling falling to 8 by Thursday evening. Temperatures will be below normal Friday and Saturday then warming up on Sunday. Monday will be warm with highs near 16 with a cool down expected beginning on Tuesday.
