Diminishing winds tonight, more rain tomorrow

Thursday 8:20pm  An intensifying low pressure system over the northern Gulf sill continue to move northeastward away from the area. The accompanying cold front crossed the island this morning as expected with the strong winds and dropping temperatures. Showers and ice pellets were observed as the cold unstable airmass engulfed the region. Another cold front will swing through the region tomorrow bringing more showers and a reinforcing shot of cold air with Ice pellets and flurries possible on Friday night into Saturday. Rain returns on Sunday as a warm front will approach the Maritimes  bringing moderating temperatures later in the day. Low pressure from the Great Lakes will track along the warm front on Monday bring more rain and wind to the region. The accompanying cold front will sweep through on Tuesday bringing a return to the colder weather. High pressure builds in for mid week.

Precipitation.. Showers with a chance flurries and ice pellets tonight. Showers begin again tomorrow before noon as the next system approaches becoming mixed with fkurries and ice pellets late Friday night into Saturday. Rainfall amounts of 5-10 mm possible. Rain begins again Sunday afternoon and continues through late Tuesday.  Rainfall amounts may be significant with the models hinting at 20+mms.

Wind.. Brisk/strong west winds will diminish tonight shifting to southwest by dawn tomorrow. Winds will shift back to the northwest on Friday afternoon. Brisk northwest winds will continue on Saturday becoming southerly on Sunday. Brisk southerly winds Monday through Tuesday shifting to northwesterly on Wednesday.

Temperatures.. Will remain well below normal until Sunday when a southerly wind will allow temperatures to slowly climb throughout the day reaching 11 by midnight, then 15 by dawn on Monday peaking near 17 Monday afternoon. Temperatures will then begin to fall over the next coupe days.

Friday.. Cloudy with showers beginning again near noon, brisk southwest winds shifting to northwest in the afternoon with highs near 10

Friday night.. Cloudy with showers, flurries, and ice pellets, brisk northwest winds and lows near 5

Saturday.. Cloudy with showers, flurries and ice pellets. Brisk northwest winds, highs 6

Sunday.. Overcast with rain developing in the afternoon, increasing southwest winds becoming strong. Temperatures climbing to 11 by midnight.

Monday.. Overcast with rain, Brisk southwest winds with highs near 17

Tuesday. Cloudy with showers, brisk northeast winds, highs temperatures through the day from 12 in the morning to 8 by evening.

Wednesday.. Clearing, brisk north winds, highs 8

Thursday.. Cloudy..
