Thursday 7:40am.. A strong north-south cold front located along eastern NB this morning will sweep across PEI over the next few hours. Showers and a chance of thundershowers will accompany the frontal passage. Brisk southwest winds will shift and increase to strong westerlies in it wake. Another cold front will swing through the region on Friday bringing more showers and will usher in the coldest air of the season. Cold high pressure builds in for Saturday then a warm front will lift north across the Maritimes late Sunday with temperatures well above normal for Monday as another low pressure system tracks through the area. A cold front will pass through the region on Tuesday bring an end to the rain.
Precipitation.. showers are expected to end before noon today as the front pulls away although a few lingering showers are possible through out the day today as an unstable airmass settles in. Showers expected to redevelop by dawn tomorrow as the next front approaches ending Friday evening with another 5-10 mms possible. Chance of a few flurries on Friday night/Saturday morning as another unstable airmass encompasses the region. More rain will develop Sunday afternoon as the warm front approaches and will continue into Monday. Rain will taper to showers early Tuesday as the cold front crosses. Total rainfall over the Sunday through early Tuesday in the 10 mms range. Unsettled weather continues through Wednesday and Thursday with more showers expected.
Wind. Brisk southwest winds this morning will shift and increase to strong westerlies late this morning. Brisk northwest winds will continue through until Sunday when the approaching warm front will result in an increasing southwest winds. String south westerlies will continue through Monday then a shift back to the northwest after the cold front.
Thunderstorms.. Chance of a thundershower with the cold front this morning.
Temperatures. Are peaking now then will fall after the cold front this morning. The second cold front on Friday will cause temperatures to drop even further for late Friday and Saturday then a warming trend begins on Sunday under increasing southwest winds. Monday will be warm followed by more cold air for Tuesday as the cold front works itself through the region.
