Showers and warm temperatures expected through Tuesday across PEI..

Sunday 5:45pm.. An east-west oriented warm front located southwest in the Maritimes this afternoon will slowly lift northeast across the region tonight. A few showers have already spread across the area in advance of this front. Low pressure located in the Great Lakes will track eastward along the front and is expected to pass north of the Maritimes during the day tomorrow dragging a cold front across the area on Tuesday. Secondary low pressure is now expected to develop along the cold front on Tuesday and track across the Maritimes. High pressure should build in over the region on Wednesday and Thursday. Another deep low pressure system will then move into the Maritimes Friday into the weekend.

Precipitation.. Showers today will become periods of rain tonight as the warm front approaches ending near noon on Monday. Showers redevelop again on Monday night as the cold front and next low approaches which should end late Tuesday night. Total rainfall amounts through Tuesday evening have been lowered to the 10-15 mms range. Wet weather expected for next weekend with showers expected again on Friday.

Tropical.. Watching Tropical Storm Rafael currently located about 275 KM north of Puerto Rico with max sustained winds of 95 KMH. The storm is moving NNW and forecast ti become a hurricane Monday evening. Rafael is expected to approach the SE coast of NFLD Wednesday night. At this time the storm is not expected to have any impact on the Maritimes but will need to be watched for any westward shift on track which would bring the system closer to NS.

Wind.. Light south winds tonight becoming brisk southwest tomorrow shifting to westerly late Tuesday night. Brisk northwest on Wednesday becoming southerly for Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures.. Steady tonight near 7 then warming up tomorrow reaching 16 by early evening. Tuesday remains warm with highs near 17. Temperatures return to normal for Wednesday and Thursday then warming up again on Friday.

Thursday.. Sunny, light west winds, highs 14

Friday.. Cloudy with showers, brisk south winds, highs 17

Saturday.. Rain, brisk southeast winds, highs 16

Sunday.. Cloudy with showers..
