Friday 6:10pm. An area of high pressure approaching from the west is expected to cross the Maritimes early on Saturday the an trof will begin to approach from the west. Indications are that this system will spawn new development off Cape Cod early on Sunday. This system is expected to pass south of the Maritimes keeping most of the rain over southern NB and NS. Showers will eventually move into the Island on Tuesday and should continue into Wednesday. Thursday should remain cloudy as low pressure lingers over the region.

Precipitation.. Showers expected to begin late Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday. At this time only light amounts expected. We are missing significant amounts of rain with flood advisories out for southern Maine.

Thunderstorms.. Are not expected over the next 5 days.

Wind.. Basically a north-northeast wind will blow across the Island right through Thursday.

Temperatures.. Will remain below normal through at least Wednesday due persistent northeast wind.

Tonight.. Mainly clear, fog patches developing in low lying areas and near moisture sources, calm winds with lows near 8.

Friday 6:20am.. The remnants of Tropical storm Beryl are passing well south of the Maritimes today while a ridge of high pressure approaches from the west. This ridge should crest over the region Saturday morning then a low pressure will pass south of the region later Sunday into Monday. At this time, most of the associated rainfall will fall across southern NS and southern NB. Looks like showers will finally move into the Island on Tuesday as a trof crosses the area. Cloudy skies are expected to hang on through mid week as low pressure lingers over the Maritimes but model discrepancies exist with respect to a system developing off Cape Cod on Thursday.

Precipitation. Slight chance of a left over shower this morning. Showers expected again Monday night into Tuesday morning then again Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts are expected to be light.

Thunderstorms..Don’t see any chance through the forecast period.

Wind.. Basically a northeasterly flow right through the entire forecast period. Light becoming brisk on Sunday through Wednesday.

Temperatures..Are expected to be below normal through-out the forecast period with the warmest day on Saturday.

Thursday 8:00pm A low pressure system passing south of the Maritimes and an upper trof of low pressure crossing the region will result in showers tonight but should end early tomorrow as a ridge of high pressure builds in. The next weather system now appears to be passing south of the Maritimes for late Sunday through Tuesday and as a result much less rain is now expected over the area.

Precipitation.. Showers beginning this evening and ending near noon Friday with 5 mms expected. Showers early Monday morning then redeveloping Monday and continuing through Tuesday with 10 mms expected.

Wind.. Light northerly winds shifting to northeasterly on Sunday which will continue right through Tuesday.

Thunderstorms.. Don’t see any chance for thunderstorms through the period.

Temperatures.. A week of cool temperatures ahead with the only day expected to reach normal values is Sunday, otherwise below normal temperatures expected.

Friday.. Showers ending by noon then clearing by evening. Light northerly winds with temperatures steady near 10.

Warmer tomorrow with rain developing by evening

Wednesday 4:50pm. A warm front will approach the Maritimes today and move east of the region during the overnight hours ushering in warmer temperatures for tomorrow. Weak low pressure will cross the region Thursday night into early Friday morning with more rain then high pressure builds in over the area for later Friday and Saturday. Another low pressure system will effect the area for Sunday and Monday. One of the more trusted computers models is hinting at a very wet beginning to next week with strong slow pressure lingering over the region through Wednesday evening. Should have a better handle on this in upcoming posts.

Precipitation. Few showers and drizzle should come to an end this evening then redevelop Thursday evening and end before dawn on Friday morning. giving another 10-15 mms. Rain expected to begin again late Saturday and continue on Sunday. Charts are indicating that significant amounts of rain possible on Sunday. Long range charts are also showing heavy rain on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms.. Don’t see any risk though the next few days..

Wind.. Light southeast tonight become easterly on Thursday shifting and increasing to brisk northerly on Friday. Light westerly on Saturday followed by brisk southeasterly Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures.. Will be on a roller coaster ride over the next 5-7 days. Warm tomorrow, cold on Friday, warm on Saturday, cool on Sunday and Monday.

Tuesday 5:15pm A northwest-southeast ridge of high pressure is located across Cape Breton this afternoon and will continue to move off to the east, meanwhile a trof of low pressure approaching from the west will cross the Maritimes during the day on Wednesday. Showers ahead of this trof have already developed across the region today and will become periods of rain overnight and tomorrow as the trof approaches. An upper trof will cross the region on Thursday with more unsettled weather followed by high pressure on Friday and Saturday. Rain should develop again later on Sunday into Monday and Tuesday as another system approaches from the west.

Precipitation.. Showers this evening will become periods of rain overnight. Rain will continue through Wednesday ending in the evening with 10 mms expected. Showers again Thursday morning. Showers should begin again late Saturday night and continue through Monday. Charts are indicating significant amounts possible on Sunday.

Thunderstorms.. Slight chance on Wednesday.

Wind.. Light/Brisk southeasterly winds will shift to the northwest late Wednesday evening then become westerly on Saturday shifting to the south on Sunday.

Temperatures.. Temperatures will remain below normal until Saturday when a southerly winds should allow temps to climb into the low 20′s. Sunday will see a slight cool down.

Tuesday 8:00am A ridge of high pressure will cross the Island this morning but clouds ahead of an approaching trof of low pressure have already invaded the Maritimes.This frontal trof will move into the area on Wednesday then a cold front will cross the region on Thursday followed by high pressure for Friday and Saturday. Long range models are hinting at another system effecting eastern Canada for Sunday and Monday.

Precipitation.. Showers developing this afternoon becoming periods of rain on Wednesday ending early Thursday morning (15-25 mms). Showers redevelop Thursday evening and end early Friday morning. Rain again on Sunday and Monday

Tropical Depression Beryl located over eastern Georgia this morning with max sustained winds of 30 MPH. The system is beginning bits northeast track and expected to pass well south and east of the Maritimes on Friday.

Thunderstorms.. Weakening storms are expected to cross into western NB today. Charts are not indicating any thunderstorm activity across PEI during the next couple days.

Wind.. Light southeast winds today increasing to brisk on Wednesday shifting to northerly early Thursday morning increasing to brisk northerly on Friday. Light westerly winds on Saturday becoming southerly on Sunday.

Temperatures.. Remaining below normal through Friday warming up on Saturday and Sunday.

Monday 6:30pm A ridge of high pressure will approach from the west and expected to cross the Island early on Tuesday then a frontal trof will approach from the southwest on Wednesday bringing some welcome rains to region. An strong upper air disturbance will move across the Maritimes on Thursday giving another shot of rain then high pressure will build in for Friday and Saturday. More rain expected for Sunday and Monday and another system approaches from the west.

Warnings.. Environment Canada has issued a frost warning for tonight across PEI.

Precipitation.. Showers expected to begin late Tuesday evening and change to periods of rain for Wednesday then back to showers on Friday. Total amounts in the 15-25 mm range. Rain expected again on Sunday and Monday.

Thunderstorms. Slight chance on Wednesday.

Monday 8:15am. An area of low pressure is passing across the southern Maritimes this morning while a ridge of high pressure approaching from the west. This high should cross the region on Tuesday then a warm front will slowly approach the area for the southwest on Wednesday. Unsettled weather will continue through Friday as a series of upper air disturbances cross the area. High pressure builds in for Saturday then another low pressure system moves in for Sunday.

Precipitation.. Showers should begin near dawn on Wednesday morning and end Friday morning with total rainfall amounts near 20 mms.

Thunderstorms.. Chance of thunderstorms moving into western NB this evening

Wind..Light northeasterly winds today becoming easterly on Tuesday then southeasterly on Wednesday. Winds will shift back to the northeast on Thursday then increasing to brisk by late afternoon. Brisk northeast winds continue on Friday morning then diminish to light northwesterly Friday afternoon. Light and variable winds on Saturday.

Tropics.. Tropical Storm Beryl made landfall in northern Florida last night and has since weaked to a tropical depression. This system is expected to turn northeast passing well south of Newfoundland on Friday.

Temperatures..Are expected to remain just below normal values though Friday with a warmup for Saturday.

Sunday 7:30am High pressure moving into the Maritimes from the west today will crest over the Island tonight into tomorrow morning meanwhile a warm front will begin to approach the Maritimes from the southwest on Monday. A low pressure system will track eastward along this front and is expected to track across the region Tuesday night into Wednesday This front will slow down or stall over the area on Thursday and Friday. Saturday looks dry as high pressure builds in but yet another system moving in for the latter half of the weekend promises more cloud and showers for Sunday.

Precipitation.. Showers are expected to begin Tuesday afternoon and continue through Friday with the heaviest amounts occurring on Wednesday morning with 15-25 mms possible. Rain expected again on Sunday.

Thunderstorms.. Models are indicating a slight chance on Wednesday

Wind.. A light northerly wind expected til Tuesday morning with a shift ot the southeast. Light southeast winds will shift back to the north and northwest on Thursday.

Temperatures.. It will be a rather cool week with below normal temperatures expected til Friday.

Saturday 6:40am A northeast-southwest cold front just moving into western NB this morning will continue to move east today to be located across eastern PEI by this evening with Cloud, showers, and a possible thundershower. The front will continue to move east tonight and weaken while high pressure builds in from the west. A low pressure system is expected to pass south of the Maritimes on Monday pushing rain into southern NS with high pressure remaining in place across the north. Tuesday’s charts are tracking a large area of low pressure approaching from Quebec which may give 2-3 day periods of unsettled weather.

Precipitation..few showers possible beginning this morning and ending this evening. Rain begins again Wednesday morning and tapers to showers Thursday morning with 15-20 mms possible.

Thunderstorms.. Possible later this afternoon into the evening.

Wind.. Brisk southwest winds today will shift to northerly early this evening with the frontal passage. Winds will shift to easterly early Monday morning as the next low passes south of the region then shift back to the north Monday afternoon as the low tracks to the east. Winds will shift back to the southeast on Wednesday as the Quebec low approaches.

Temperatures. Warm and humid today ahead of the cold front becoming cool for the rest of the forecast period.
