Wednesday May 3rd 8:15am.. A double-barrelled low pressure system located north and NW of the Maritimes this morning will move eastward today. A cold front extending southward from the second low over central Quebec will sweep across the Maritimes later today giving cloud and chance of showers. Cool NW will maintain instability tomorrow especially down east resulting in more cloud and chance of a shower. High pressure will then build in from the west later tomorrow passing south of the region before dawn on Friday morning. Things then start to get interesting.. A low pressure system loaded with tropical is expected to track Northward through NY state Friday night then into southern Ontario Saturday morning then meander NE along the St Lawrence river valley over the next couple days finally moving out into the northern Gulf vicinity Gaspe Bay Monday or Tuesday. Significant rain is expected to the east of the storm track but the models are still unclear as to the exact amount or place. As mentioned, the system moves away to the NE on Monday or Tuesday but the cool air left behind will maintain clouds and instability at through the first few days of next week. So, Not looking promising..
Precipitation.. The rain showers should redevelop this evening and overnight as that cold front moves through. Could be a few showers develop tomorrow especially down east in the onshore NW winds. Thursday evening through Friday looks dry. Rain develops late Friday night near midnight ans continues through Saturday becoming heavy at times. Showers continue on Sunday. Drying out on MOnday and Tuesday but can’t rule out some left over showers as the low tracks east through the northern Gulf. The rest of the week looks unsettled..
Temperatures.. Near normal today and tomorrow then a bit of a warm-up for Friday through Monday. Cool down back to normal for Tuesday and Wednesday then below normal begins on Thursday.
Wind.. Light-brisk SW today shifting to the NW tonight near midnight with the cold frontal passage. light-brisk NW winds tomorrow but diminish late in the afternoon becoming calm overnight.
