Sunday May 7th 6:25am.. A low pressure system located just north of the city of Montreal will continued to move very slowly NE . A frontal system associated oriented N-S is currently crossing the Maritmes and is the focus of significant tropical moisture which has been streaming northward along this frontal system right into the Maritimes. As mentioned, this frontal system has begun to shift eastward and now the band of heavy rain has shifted across PEI and Cape Breton. Secondary low pressure is also expected to develop tonight in southern Maine and remain basically stalled over Maine/NB through Saturday. An upper low will then develop over Maine and drift SE passing south of the region. What does all this mean. Initially it means lots of rain and mild temps through Monday followed by a continuation of the cloud and showers for the remainder of the week but temps will be much cooler beginning on Tuesday.
Precipitation.. Rain tapers to showers today as the main rain band shifts east of the island. Showers continue tonight as the secondary low pressure develop. Models are hinting at a possible break in the wet weather tomorrow then the rain redevelops again tomorrow night and basically continues right into the weekend.
Temperatures.. Mild and muggy today tonight into tomorrow. Temps expected to drop near suppertime tomorrow then remain below normal into Saturday of next week.
Wind..Brisk SE winds today and tonight becoming light southerly tomorrow then back to SE on Tuesday further shifting to easterly on Wednesday then NE on Thursday Friday and Saturday,
Hazards.. Wet roads of course.
