Rain expected to spread across PEI before dawn tomorrow..

Sunday May 14th 9:00am.. The area of high pressure that gave the clear skies to the island yesterday has drifted east and now located N-S through Newfoundland. A low pressure system developed yesterday morning along  the coast of North Carolina and has moved NE and is now located just south of Cape Cod. This low will then slow right down as it drifts NNE along the Atlantic coast of NS over the next couple days. The low moves towards Newfoundland Tuesday night allowing a ridge of high pressure to slide across the region on Wednesday giving some sunshine. A warm font then lifts NE across the Maritimes early on Thursday giving cloud and chance of showers. Much warmer and muggy conditions spread across the island in the Thursday/Friday time frame with a risk of thundershowers. Low pressure moves east across NB then across PEI on Friday. The associated cold front sweeps east across the island Friday evening. High pressure builds in for the weekend with sunshine then more rain on Monday with the approach of another low pressure system.

Precipitation... Rain begins before dawn tomorrow ending Tuesday evening giving 10-15 mms. Wednesday should be dry. Showers for Thursday and Friday. Dry weekend.

Temperatures... Slightly above normal today. At or below normal for tomorrow and Tuesday. Warm up begins on Wednesday with the warmest temperatures of the year so far expected on Thursday and Friday with temps in the mid 20’S.  Cool down Friday evening and looks like another extended period of below normal temps to follow.
