Thursday May 25th, 6:30am..A north-south oriented ridge of high pressure stretches from NB northward through Labrador this morning and is drifting eastward. A moist cool north wind ahead of this feature has pushed a fog bank off the Gulf down across the island. This fog and mist will dissipate or move back off shore later this morning. Clouds have already moved in above the fog in advance of the next weather system approaching from the Great Lakes. This system is expected to track eastward coming off the coast near Cape Cod tomorrow morning then just south of NS Friday night/early Saturday morning. Clearing takes place on Saturday as a ridge of high pressure crosses the island. Long range models are now in conflict as some models are hinting at a warm front across the Maritimes on Sunday with cloud and showers while other are keeping this feature further to the north. Monday and Tuesday look cloudy and wet as a number of weather disturbances track eastward across the Maritimes.
Precipitation.. Could be some patchy drizzle this morning but the trend will be towards drying. Rain at times heavy should begin about 9:00am tomorrow tapering to showers by evening giving 20-25 mm province wide. Showers should end by noon on Saturday followed by some clearing. Few showers possible on Monday through Thursday.
Temperatures..Normal today, cool tomorrow and Saturday. Normal again on Sunday. A little below normal on Monday and Tuesday.
Wind.. Very light NE winds now will shift to the SE later today once the ridge goes through then shift back to the NE tomorrow evening as the low pressure system approaches southern NS. Brisk NE winds expected both Friday and Saturday shifting back to light southerlies on Sunday.
