Tuesday July 11th, 9:10am.. A weak low pressure system is tracking NE well off the coast of NS but is giving some cloud and showers to the region. Skies should clear later this afternoon as this system pulls away, meanwhile a strong cold front oriented NE-SW is located in Quebec. This front will move SE sweeping across the island during the overnight hours tonight bringing some rain and chance of thundershowers. In behind the cold front, clearing skies, cooler temps and lower humidities in store for later Wednesday. This dry spell will be brief as yet another low pressure system will be approaching from the west on Thursday with rain expected by noon. The storm track then shifts to the south with the following weather systems tracking south of NS on Saturday. A couple of upper air disturbances then expected to track across the region on Saturday and Monday with varying amounts of cloud and chance of a shower.
Precipitation.. A band of rain is moving up the Bay of Fundy now which should spread across over the next few hours. More showers expected to move across the island tonight as that strong cold front sweeps through. Dry conditions expected Wednesday afternoon/night. Rain should begin again near noon on Thursday ending in the evening. Bit of a difficult forecast for the weekend with the next low passing just south of NS on Friday. For now will go with cloudy but dry. Few showers possible on Saturday and Monday.
Temperatures.. Warm and muggy today especially if we gets more sun than cloud. Cooler but still normal tomorrow. Even cooler on Thursday then back to normal for Friday and weekend.
Wind.. Brisk SW winds developing today shifting to NW before dawn tomorrow with the passage of the cold front. Diminishing NW winds during the day tomorrow. Very light and variable winds then expected on Thursday and Friday becoming light southerlies on Saturday and Sunday.
Thunderstorms.. Next chance of thunder appears to be this evening and overnight associated with the cold front. Looks fairly quiet after that for a few days.
Hazards.. Wet driving conditions in any rain today and tonight. Possible lightning activity later today and overnight.
