Wednesday July 12th, 6:30am.. A cold front oriented NE-SW is currently located across eastern NB and is moving eastward spreading clouds and chance of a shower across the island over the next few hours. The front will continue to move across NS today then stall where it will remain through Thursday/Friday. A weak wave of low pressure will ripple eastward along this front giving cloudy skies for the island early tomorrow but otherwise clear skies should prevail as High pressure builds in behind the front for later Thursday into Friday. Clouds will be on the increase on Saturday as the next low pressure system approaches from the west with some showers developing in the afternoon. This system will be weakening so not expecting much in the way of precipitation. Skies will briefly clear later Saturday then cloud up again on Sunday as yet another frontal system invades from the west. This front stalls and weakens across the Maritimes on Sunday with a chance of some left over showers but could also serve to enhance some possible thunderstorm activity. Weather remains unsettled into the beginning of next week as yet another weak frontal system enters the picture. So an unsettled period ahead as a series of rather weak frontal systems effect the island over the course of the next 7 days or so.
Precipitation.. There is a band of weak showers moving across central and eastern NB associated with the weak cold front. These showers should slide across PEI over the next few hours. Very slight chance of another shower tomorrow morning as weak low pressure slides by to our south. Friday looking sunny and dry. Chance of a shower on Saturday as low pressure crosses the Maritimes. Chance of showers again on Sunday as a weak cold front stalls over the region. The beginning of next week continues the unsettled trend but systems appear to be weak and disorganized.
Temperatures.. Normal temps are expected today and tomorrow. Above normal on Friday. Slightly below normal on Saturday then looks like a warm/hot and muggy period begins on Sunday.
Wind..The wind is beginning to shift to the west now as the frontal trough approaches. The wind will continue to shift to the NW-N. Generally a very light NW flow for Thursday and Friday. Light southerlies developing on Saturday.
Thunderstorms.. Next chance appears to be on the weekend.
Hazards.. Basically none except for some possible wet driving conditions in any showers this morning and again tomorrow morning.
Watches/warnings.. None for PEI at this time.
