Wednesday, August 23rd 6:35am.. An intensifying low pressure system located in central Quebec this morning is moving NNE. meanwhile a cold front extending southward from this low will sweep across the island this evening. High pressure will then dominate the east coast from Thursday through Wednesday of next week. This feature will usher in cooler air for the weekend but this cooler air will be unstable and expected afternoon cloud build-ups with possible showers for the weekend. Long range models are hinting at a tropical system moving up the coast mid week but much too early to go into details yet.
Precipitation.. Rain has already moved into central NB and should spread across PEI near noon ending before midnight. Could be some local heavy downpours with rainfall amounts generally in the 5 mm range. Dry conditions expected for Thursday and Friday then possible sowers for the weekend.
Temperatures.. warm and muggy today and tomorrow. Cooler air invades the region for Friday through Tuesday.
Wind.. Brisk SW winds today diminishing to light for tomorrow then shifting to NW-N for Friday and Saturday, Very light winds for Sunday and MOnday under high pressure.
