Tuesday, May 1st 6:30am.. An upper air disturbance which has been slowly approaching the Maritimes is now located in the Gulf of Maine and continues to drift slowly ESE into the Atlantic. Cloud and few showers will accompany this feature.. As this upper air disturbance moves away to the SE, a warm front will be approaching from the west. This front will be oriented an an east-west fashion and located just north of PEI by tonight. Clouds and few showers will also accompany this system. A small weak area of low pressure will then ripple eastward along this frontal trough tomorrow night enhancing the shower activity with a risk of some thunderhowers. The front will begin to drop south on Thursday as another fast moving area of low pressure rises eastward along this boundary with another round of rain. We may actually see some sunshine on Friday but it will short lived as yet another fast moving area of low pressure approaches from the west. This system will pass by well to the north but it’s associated frontal systems will move across the region Friday night through Saturday afternoon with cloud and rain. Sunshine breaks out later Saturday as this system pulls away to the NE. High pressure will then begin to build in from the west resulting in a few sunny days for Sunday through Tuesday. So the cloudy wet weather pattern remains through Saturday.
Precipitation.. Wet weather continues across the island through Saturday afternoon although there will be some dry spells. Any showers now should end this morning then redevelop tomorrow evening as the warm front begins to approach becoming more organized Thursday morning as the first low pressure system moves through. Another organized round of showers Thursday night into Friday morning as the 2nd low pressure system crosses the area. Showers redevelop Friday night ending Saturday afternoon as the frontal system moves through. That should be the end of the precip for a while with dry conditions moving in later Saturday.
Temperatures.. Another cool day today. Warmer weather in store for tomorrow but will be short lived as the cooler air returns with the frontal system dropping south across the island and remains across the region for Thursday. At or above normal beginning on Friday.
Wind.. Light S-SW winds today and tomorrow shifting to NW Thursday afternoon once the front drops south of the island. Light northerlies on Friday. Brisk southerlies develop on Saturday.
Thunderstorms.. Possible activity Wednesday evening.
Hazards,.. Wet driving conditions in any rain.
