Monday, May 7th 6:30am.. Rain redeveloped again yesterday evening as a low pressure system approached along the coast. This system is now located just east of the southern tip of NS and will continue to move NE passing east of Halifax in a few hours then into Newfoundland later today. Rain will end over the next few hours as the system passes east of the region. High pressure will begin to build in from the west later today allowing skies to clear. This feature will crest over the island late Monday night with clear skies, calm winds. A weakening cold front will approaching from the NW may spread some cloud into the region later Tuesday but not expecting any rain. High pressure then approaches from the west, cresting over the island Wednesday afternoon. Clouds will then begin to spread across the region as a couple of systems approach. The first system will be another coastal low pressure area which will be passing east of NS Thursday evening. The bulk of any rain should stay offshore. The second system will be a cold front sweeping eastward through Quebec which will spread rain across the island on Friday. Saturday is looking sunny with high pressure cresting over the island. Clouds and showers on Sunday as a frontal system moves through.
Precipitation.. Rain should end over the next couple hours. Dry conditions then expected til Thursday night. Rain overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. Dry on Saturday then more rain on Sunday.
Temperatures.. Will be a few degrees either side of normal through the period.
Wind.. Light-brisk northerlies today dropping off to calm tonight then becoming brisk South-westerlies tomorrow. Winds briefly shift to the north on Wednesday then back to the SE for Thursday into Friday morning. The passage of the frontal system later Friday will result in a shift back to the north. Light and variable winds over the weekend.
Hazards.. Wet driving conditions this morning. Clear, calm and cool tonight may give possible frost, then quiet til Thursday night.
