Tuesday, May 8th 5:30am.. An area of high pressure is currently cresting over the island hence the clear skies and calm winds. This feature will drift eastward during the day today resulting in a southerly wind developing just after sunrise this morning. This should allow temperatures to climb into the mid teens under sunshine. A weakening cold front approaching from the NW today should be move across the island near midnight tonight. This system is fairly weak resulting in only some cloud. No rain expected. Tomorrow, high pressure begins to build back in but NW winds off the cool waters of the Gulf will keep temperatures a little low for this time of year. The high pressure area crests over the island late tomorrow then moves east. Clouds will be on the increase Wednesday night as a couple of weather systems approach. The first is a coastal low pressure system off the US mid Atlantic coast. This system is expected to move NNE tracking into NS about noon on Thursday with cloud and rain. The second system will be another cold front approaching from the NW which should sweep eastward across the island late Thursday night into Friday morning. More cloud and showers associated with this system. The sun returns Friday afternoon with high pressure building in but wont last long as yet another frontal system begins to approach early on Saturday with increasing clouds. An area of low pressure will the ripple eastward along this frontal boundary bringing a rain event for Saturday nigh into Sunday morning.
Precipitation.. Dry next couple days.. Showers expected to begin near noon on Thursday associated with the coastal low. More showers Thursday night into Friday morning associated with the cold front. Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon looking dry. Rain redevelops again Saturday evening ending Sunday morning associated with the approaching low pressure system. More showers later Monday.
Temperatures.. The warmest days will be today and again early next week. Otherwise, temps within a degree either side of normal.
Wind.. Will be shifting and forth and the various weather systems push through. Today looking at light-brisk southerlies developing just after sunrise shifting to NW-N after midnight tonight with the cold frontal passage. Winds shift back to the SE on Thursday as the coastal low approaches then NW early Friday with the cold frontal passage.
