Tuesday, May 15th 7:30am.. A cold front oriented NE-SW is currently located along the St Lawrence River Valley. This front is moving eastward and should cross the island late this afternoon/early this evening with clouds and a few showers. High pressure will then build in behind this front for tomorrow cresting over the island near noon. Another cold front will be approaching later Wednesday crossing the island early Thursday with another round of cloud and showers. High pressure returns for Friday into Saturday with some sunshine but clouds will be on the increase though Saturday afternoon as a warm front lifts northward through the Gulf on Maine. Rain should develop near midnight then continue through Sunday and Monday with slow moving low pressure moving through the region.
Precipitation.. Rain begins late this afternoon ending before midnight giving about 5 mms. Dry tomorrow followed by another band of showers Thursday morning. Dry for Friday and Saturday. Rain begins late Saturday evening and continues through Sunday and Monday. Difficult to go into too much detail for the rain event as the models are not in good agreement right now.
Temperatures.. Mild today followed by a few days of cool weather tomorrow through Friday. Warm-up for Saturday through Monday.
Wind.. Brisk SW winds now shifting to NW-N this afternoon with the frontal passage. These north winds diminish to very light or even calm tomorrow afternoon as the area of high pressure crests over the island. SE winds then develop later tomorrow increasing to brisk for Thursday. Light westerly for Friday followed by light southerlies on Saturday.
Hazards.. Wet driving conditions on rain later today then again on Thursday morning. There is a risk of frost near dawn tomorrow with clearing skies but the wind maybe too strong for frost.
