Friday, May 25th 6:30am.. Lots of sunshine yesterday as an area of high pressure effected the region. This feature has since moved south of NS and clouds and rain has invaded the area as a warm front approaches from the NW. A weakening area of low pressure will then ripple eastward along this boundary moving into the Gulf of St Lawrence this afternoon. The rain currently falling will end as this feature weakens. The air to the south of the front across NS and southern NB will warm up possibly into the mid 20’s today with a risk of thunderstorms possibly strong. The associated cold front will the begin to drop south tonight moving across the island near dawn tomorrow. This will result in a wind shift to the north and much cooler temperatures for the weekend. High pressure in control for Sunday with sunshine expected. Clouds begin to roll back in for Monday as another area of low pressure passes by to the north. The associated cold front sweeps eastward across the island on Tuesday bringing an end to the rain but introducing some cooler air again.High pressure in control for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with dry conditions.
Precipitation.. Rain now should come to an end near noon today then redevelop tonight as the colds front begins to slip south. These showers should come to an end near dawn tomorrow. Dry for the remainder of tomorrow through Monday afternoon. Rain begins again Monday night ending Tuesday afternoon then dry for Wednesday Thursday and Friday.
Temperatures.. Should get warm today especially Kings county even a bit muggy. Cooler temps expected tomorrow which will continue through Wednesday of next week. Warmer conditions expected by Thursday.
Winds.. Brisk SW winds today becoming more westerly tonight then shifting to NW-N for tomorrow. Light north winds tomorrow becoming variable NW-NE on Sunday. Light SE winds on Monday followed by NW winds on Tuesday.
Thunderstorms.. Storms could develop today but should be confined to NS and southern NB. These storms could become strong with a risk of small hail and strong winds. Although these storms should develop over NB/NS, they could if develop, move across the Strait into PEI. Something to keep an eye on today.
Hazards.. Wet driving conditions in rain this morning and again tonight.
