Saturday, July 7th 7:40am.. A cold front swept across the island yesterday afternoon with associated showers and thundershowers. This front is now well east and stretches from Newfoundland all the way south through Virginia. Much cooler and dryer air has settled in across the region in the wake of the front. An area of high pressure centered n the lower Great Lakes will drift eastward and pass south of the Maritimes during the afternoon tomorrow. Mainly clear skies are expected with this feature. A weakening cold front will approach from the NW Monday evening spreading some cloud and possible showers overnight. This front then basically stalls over the Maritimes on Tuesday and Wednesday as it continues to weaken. High pressure then builds back in for Thursday and Friday. A tropical depression has developed southeast of Cape Hatteras,NC. This system will meander around just off the coast for the next couple days then begin to move NE. The models are bringing this feature NE passing south of NS Wednesday night. The big question will be how close it gets to NS. The models are hinting at another tropical system developing in the same area (off North Carolina) on Friday. Stay tuned..
Precipitation.. Dry weekend. Showers should develop Monday evening and continue into Tuesday and possibly Wednesday but very little in the way of amounts expected. A fairly dry week ahead then only exception would be if the Tropical storm moves into the region on Thursday.
