One more day of heat and humidity expected today across PEI..

Tuesday, July 10th 7:00am.. One more warm day of sunshine expected today as high pressure continues to drift away to the SE of NS. Clouds and showers/thundershowers will approach this evening as a cold front approaches from the NW. This front will  sweep eastward across the island near midnight tonight. Cooler fresher air will then settle in behind this front with high pressure cresting over the area Thursday night. Tropical Storm “Chris” will slide by to the east of NS/Cape Breton during the day on Thursday. At this time, the only real impacts for PEI will be a brisk N/NE wind and some cloud cover. Any precip should be confined to Cape Breton. As mentioned. high pressure in control tomorrow afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Another cold front should begin to approach late Saturday with some cloud and showers into Sunday. High pressure returns on Monday..

Precipitation.. Showers this evening ending near dawn tomorrow giving 5 mms or less then dry until Saturday night. So fairly dry period ahead.

Temperatures.. The heat and humidity continues today. The cold frontal passage tonight introduces cooler air for tomorrow through Sunday. Warm-up on Monday.

Wind.. Light-brisk SW winds today shifting to North tonight with the frontal passage. Light NE winds tomorrow increasing to brisk on Thursday as Hurricane Chris moves by east of Cape Breton diminishing back to light northerly on Friday. Winds shift to light southerly for the weekend.

Thunderstorms.. Chance of storms tonight with the cold front.

Tropical storm.. Tropical Storm “Chris” is still stalled off the coast of North Carolina SE on Cape Hatteras. The storm continues to slowly intensify ans should reach hurricane strength later this afternoon as it finally begins to move NE. The storm is expected to remain at hurricane strength as it passes by east of Halifax Thursday evening then transition to a post tropical storm while passing east of Cape Breton Thursday night. The storm is then expected to pass over the southeastern tip of the Avalon Penn of NL near noon on Friday. This is the latest track guidance as of now and can always change if the storm doesn’t behave as expected.
