Rain, at times heavy continues this morning across PEI..

Wednesday, October 3rd 6:45am.. An area of low pressure approaching from the SW has spread rain across the Maritimes this  morning. This system is expected to weaken and move across the island later today. Weak high pressure will try and build in tonight into tomorrow morning but clouds and few showers still possible. A strong cold front will then approach from the west and will sweep across the island near midnight tomorrow night accompanied by cloud and showers. Clearing skies expected on Friday as high pressure builds in from the west. This feature will also introduce some of the coolest air of the season so far. Clouds will be on the increase on Saturday as warm front lofts north of the island. The associated cold front will then sweep across the island near noon on Sunday accompanied by cloud and showers. Once again high pressure begins to build in from the west and should crest over the island Monday evening. Clouds on the increase on Tuesday as another warm front approaches with some rain by Wednesday.

Precipitation.. Rain at times heavy spread across the island yesterday evening.  The bulk of the rain should end by noon today giving total amounts of 30-40 mms. Cloud and few showers will then continue fort the remainder of today tonight and tomorrow. More showers expected with the strong cold front Thursday evening finally coming to an end before dawn on Friday morning. Showers expected again on Sunday as another cold front moves through but amounts should be light. Monday and Tuesday should be dry with only a slight chance of a shower. Better chance of showers on Wednesday.

Temperatures.. Slightly above normal today then well above normal tomorrow. Cool for Friday and Saturday. One day warm-up on Sunday. Cool again for Monday through Wednesday.

Wind.. Brisk SE winds today diminishing to light this evening then increasing to brisk SW tomorrow ahead of the approaching cold front. Winds then shift to light-brisk northerlies with the cold frontal passage near midnight Thursday night. light northerlies continue on Friday and Saturday then shift back to the SW on Sunday.

Potato Harvest..  The bulk of the rain ends near noon today but showers still expected trough this evening. Total Rainfall amounts in the 30-40 mm range. Tomorrow still looking cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Another band of showers then moves through tomorrow night as a cold front approaches. Dry for Friday morning through Saturday night but cool conditions will hinder the drying. Few showers on Sunday.
