Thursday, October 4th 6:40am.. An weakening area of low pressure is currently crossing the Maritimes and is giving cloud and showers/drizzle to the island. This activity will diminish today as a weak area of high pressure moves through this morning but redevelop tonight as a strong cold front approaches from the west. This front will sweep across the island after midnight then push off to the east. This is a fairly strong front so also expect windy conditions during the over night hours tonight. Any shower activity will come to an end followed by clearing skies after sunrise tomorrow. Another are of high pressure will then approach cresting over the island on Saturday. Sunshine and light wind and cool temperatures will accompany this feature. Clouds and chance of showers return Saturday night into Sunday and another cold front approaches from the west. High pressure approaching from the west should give sunshine for Monday. Clouds return on Tuesday with the approach of a warm front with some rain developing Tuesday afternoon.
Precipitation.. Showers and drizzle should end this morning. Showers redevelop after midnight tonight ending before dawn tomorrow. dry for Friday morning through Sunday morning. Showers Sunday afternoon ending before dawn on Monday. Dry Monday morning through Tuesday morning. Showers begin Tuesday afternoon and continue though Wednesday become periods of rain at times heavy Wednesday night.
Temperatures.. Enjoy the warmth (20) today as much cooler air invades the island overnight tonight as that strong cold front sweeps through. Below normal conditions then expected though Wednesday of next week.
Wind.. Brisk southerlies today shifting to northerlies tonight after midnight with the passage of that cold front. The winds could be quite gusty for a few hours tonight. Tomorrow will see these winds slowly diminishing to light northerlies for Saturday then shifting to southerlies for Sunday. Winds then shift back to brisk northerlies for MOnday then westerlies for Tuesday.
Potato Harvest.. Showers and drizzle ending this morning but remaining mostly cloudy limiting the drying. Nuisance Showers return tonight but amounts should be light. Sunshine for Friday and Saturday but remains cool again limiting the drying. Nuisance Showers return Sunday afternoon through Monday morning but again amounts should be light. More nuisance showers on Tuesday night into Wednesday then a possible heavy rain event on Wednesday night. Too early to into much detail here as it is still a week away.
