Cool conditions expected across PEI next few days..

Friday, October 5th 6:30am.. A cold front swept across the island during the overnight hours last night bringing an end to the mild temps. Any associated shower activity will end this morning as well. An area of high pressure centered south of Hudson’s Bay will drift eastward tomorrow evening. Cool temperatures and light winds will accompany this feature in fact there will be a good chance of frost tonight. Clouds will begin to increase on Saturday night as a frontal system approaches from the west. Showers, is any will develop Sunday morning as the warm front crosses. The weakening cold front moves through on Sunday afternoon again with a slight risk of showers as this systems is weakening over time. The front stalls south of NS Sunday night so there remains a chance of a few lingering showers.  High pressure returns for Monday with some sunshine but northerly winds off the Gulf may keep some cloud around. Another warm front approaches Monday night with increasing clouds and rain developing by Tuesday morning. Showers continue into Wednesday as the associated cold front  moves through and stalls. Maybe some sunshine on Thursday morning/afternoon but short lived as another low pressure system approaches from the west with rain developing by Thursday night and extending into Friday.

Rain begins Tuesday tapering to showers on Wednesday, Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon dry then more rain Thursday night into Friday. Models are only indicating light amounts throughout at this time.

Temperatures.. Cool temps expected for the next 6-7 days. Models are trying to show a bit of a warm-up next Thursday. Otherwise, get some wood ready to fire to fire up the wood stove.

Wind.. Brisk north winds now but will be diminishing later today and should continue overnight into tomorrow. Winds shifting to light southerly Sunday morning. Calm winds Sunday night becoming light northerlies by Monday morning.

Potato Harvest.. Fields should begin to dry out but will be hindered by some cloud and a few nuisance showers over the next couple days. Tuesday into Wednesday looks like a better chance of rain then again Thursday night, otherwise just a few showers on Sunday.
