Saturday, October 6th 7:45am.. An area of high pressure centered over Quebec is drifting slowly and should crest over the island early this evening. Sunshine and light northerly winds will prevail this morning but clouds clouds will begin to spread across the region later today as warm front approaches from the SW. A weakening ares of low pressure will then ripple NE along the front and is expected to cross the island near dawn tomorrow morning. Some light rain expected with this feature. The front will then droop south and stall south of NS for a day or so allowing high pressure to build in from the north and should give some clearing skies for later tomorrow into Monday. That front that was stalled south of NS will once again begin to lift north again Monday night with increasing cloud. Light rain should develop near noon on Tuesday and continue through Wednesday as the front stalls across the Maritimes in a NW-SE fashion. Friday looking quite wet as a trough of low pressure approaches from the Great Lakes.
Precipitation.. Few showers should begin after midnight tonight and continue into tomorrow afternoon giving only light amounts. More showers developing near noon on Tuesday and continue through Wednesday. Models are hinting at 5-10 mms here. Thursday dry but significant rain expected to begin Thursday night ending Friday afternoon.
Temperatures.. Running below normal for the period. Could be a very brief warm-up Tuesday night then another on Friday.
Wind.. Light north winds today dropping off to calm this evening then becoming very light southerly tomorrow. Light northerlies again on Monday dropping off to calm again Monday night. Increasing southerlies on Tuesday becoming brisk and gusty Tuesday evening then shifting to northerlies Wednesday morning. These southerlies are expected to give that brief warm–up Tuesday night. Northerlies continue on Wednesday then easterlies on Thursday, and southerlies on Friday. Again, another brief warm-up here.
Potato Harvest.. Dry today, nuisance showers begin after midnight tonight and continue through tomorrow. Monday dry.. Rain begins near noon on Tuesday tapering to showers for Wednesday giving 5-10 mms. Dry for Thursday then significant rain possible beginning late Thursday night ending on Friday.
Hazards.. Risk of frost again tonight but depends depends on cloud cover. I think that the clouds should keep the temps a little warmer tonight.
