Wednesday, October 10th 6:50am.. A frontal boundary oriented in an east-west fashion is currently located across PEI and is slowly moving south to be located south of NS by this evening. The front will then begin to lift north again as a warm front on Friday and should move north of the island tomorrow evening. Cloud and showers will continue today and tonight then becoming periods of rain at times heavy tomorrow as Tropical moisture from Hurricane Micheal will gets absorbed into this system. The front will finally sweep across the island Friday afternoon bringing an end to the wet weather but this will also introduce some of the coolest air of the season so far. The remnants of Hurricane Micheal will be a powerful extra-tropical storm system and is expected to pass SE of NS Friday evening. The exact track is still unclear but the heaviest rains are expected to remain just off shore NS. The cold front is helping to keep this tropical system south of the Maritimes. The cold air expected this weekend combined with some daytime sunshine will result in cloud build-ups resulting in showers/snow pellets/ice pellets. Conditions will also be ripe for the formation waterspouts and cold core funnels. High pressure will pass south of the Maritimes Sunday evening resulting in a wind shift to the south and a push of milder air. Rain expected later Monday into Tuesday morning as the next weather system moves through. High pressure crests over the island on Wednesday with sunshine.
Precipitation.. Generally cloudy with showers today and tonight into tomorrow morning. These showers will become periods of rain at times heavy Thursday afternoon into Friday morning as tropical moisture gets involved. Rainfall amounts in the 30-40 mms possible. Southeastern Kings county will be closer to the storm track thus the heaviest rains will occur there. Chance of showers over the weekend but these will be isolated hit and miss type. Could be a chance of ice pellets as well with the cooler air. Some organized rains Monday afternoon/evening.
Temperatures.. Generally below normal for the period except for one-day warm-ups on Friday and Monday.
Wind.. Light northerly today becoming easterly tomorrow then back to NW Friday afternoon once that cold front moves through. W/NW winds expected for Saturday and Sunday becoming SW on Monday.
Hazards.. Wet driving conditions in showers today and tonight. Heavy rains possible tomorrow afternoon through Friday morning.
