Friday, October 12 6:55am.. An area of low pressure and accompanying frontal system is located over southern NS this morning and is moving NE. This system was responsible for the significant rainfall that has fallen across the region over the past 24 hours or so. Additional, the remnants of Tropical storm Micheal are located just off the New Jersey coast now and is also moving NE and is expected to pass of the region this evening. Some of this tropical moisture will get absorbed into the system over southern NS this morning. The bulk of the rainfall has ended across PEI but still expected some rain showers through this evening. Winds will get a bit gusty as well especially along the north shore where these NE winds come onshore. High pressure will begin to build in from the on Saturday passing south of NS early Monday morning. This feature will bring dryer weather across the island except for Saturday evening when some cloud and possible showers move through which are associated with an upper air disturbance. Also cooler air invading the region on NW winds will be quite unstable which may also lead to cloud build-ups during the day tomorrow with possible showers. An approaching cold front will spread cloud and showers across the island Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Brief clearing later Tuesday into Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure builds in. This will also be the coldest air of the season so far. Another cold front moves through Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. This system will bring another round of cloud and showers. The air will be very chilly behind this front an expected showers to change over to flurries by Thursday Dawn Thursday morning. So out first real shot of some snow expected next week.
Precipitation.. The bulk of the rain has ended and moved east. Additional tropical moisture from Micheal will spread across southern and eastern NS today. Here on PEI we should just see left over showers ending tonight. Tomorrow will start out dry but showers developing through the afternoon and evening. There could even be flurries or ice/snow pellets mixed in tomorrow evening. Dry for Sunday into early Monday. Showers begin late Monday afternoon ending near dawn on Tuesday giving another 5-10 mms. Dry for later Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. Showers Wednesday evening changing to flurries Thursday morning/afternoon.
Temperatures.. Turning warmer today peaking near 15 by mid afternoon. Temps then begin to fall becoming below normal for both Saturday and Sunday. Temps return to normal for Monday then slightly below normal for Tuesday and Wednesday. Cold air invades on Thursday.
