Significant rain event expected Friday/Saturday across PEI..

Thursday, November 1st 6:45am..A stormy wet weather pattern expected over he next week or so as several low pressure systems develop in the US  and track NE. All these systems are expected to pass NW of the Island which will keep us on the warm side resulting in rain events.  Northern NB may see some snow accumulations as the storm track is through that area. Today a frontal boundary is stalled in a NE-SW through New England. An area of low pressure near Texas will ripple NE along this boundary moving into the Maritimes on Friday bringing rain at times heavy. A second low pressure system will quickly follow, moving across NB Saturday night with another round of rain at times heavy along with strong winds and mild temperatures. The associated cold front sweeps across the island before dawn on Sunday morning bring a temporary end to the rain but cooler air will flood back in on strong NW winds. MOnday will be sunny but cool as high pressure moves across the Maritimes. Clouds return on Tuesday with rain developing by late in the day as storm #3. This system will track up through New England and into northwestern NB Wednesday afternoon with another rain and wind event. Thursday and Friday are looking quieter as high pressure moves through.

Precipitation.. Slight chance of  a shower today and tonight. Rain begins before noon tomorrow and basically continues through Saturday night ending before dawn on Sunday morning. Total Rainfall amounts by Sunday morning could be in the 50-60 mm range. Sunday through Tuesday looking dry. Rain develops again late Tuesday and tapers to showers on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday looking dry.

Temperatures.. Normal today and tomorrow. Temps climb well above normal on Saturday then fall sharply with the cold frontal passage after midnight Saturday night. Slightly below normal for Sunday and MOnday. Warm-up begins on Tuesday.

Wind.. Light and variable winds expected over the next couple days. Southerly Winds will begin to increase on Saturday peaking near midnight with southerly gusts to 90-100 KMH possible. These strong south winds will shift to NW near midnight then diminish dropping off to light NW by Sunday afternoon. Calm winds by Sunday night into Monday. Southerlies develop later MOnday.

Winds will also be an issue Saturday evening through early Sunday morning. Again, wind warnings maybe issued for this as well.
