Cloud and flurries expected next few days across PEI..

Wednesday, Dec 5th 7:10am… A north-south ridge of high pressure currently extends through Quebec. Light-brisk NW flow ahead of this system will maintain cloud and a few onshore flurries. This feature is drifting eastward and will crest over the island this evening which will allow winds to drop off to calm under clear skies. A strong ocean storm will be passing by SE of NS on Thursday. This system is expected to stay far enough offshore with only some clouds and  a NE wind the only really impacts fro the island. An arctic cold front will be approaching from the west Thursday night and ins expected to cross the island on Friday with cloud and flurries. Cloud and flurries will continue into Saturday as the cold winds remain out of the NW off the open waters of the Gulf. Ridge if high pressure briefly crosses the region on Sunday which should allow winds to shift to the SE ending the onshore flurrie activity. A weak but intensifying area of low pressure expected to cross the Maritimes on Monday with some cloud and light snow. Will need to keep an eye on this as we could be in for a 10 cms snowfall here. Winds shift back to the NW on Tuesday resulting in more onshore cloud and flurries through Tuesday and Wednesday.

Precipitation.. Onshore flurries today especially down east will tend to taper off later today. Flurries or periods of snow redevelop near noon on Friday and extends into Saturday. Could see 2-5 cms in total. Watching for a “potential” 10 cm snowfall on Monday. Flurries for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures.. Remaining below normal for the next 7 days.

Wind.. Basically a light-brisk NW flow for the next 7 days..

Hazards.. Onshore flurries expected. “Potential” 10 cm snowfall on Monday.
