Wednesday, June 12th 6:00am… A mix of sun and cloud expected today across PEI as an upper level disturbance continues to slowly move across the Maritimes. Can’t rule out a rumble of thunder either especially across Prince county with storms coming off eastern NB. Temperatures will begin to moderate as well as the cooler temps aloft will shift east. High pressure will then slide by to the south tomorrow setting up a SW flow of warm air which will feel more like summer. Clouds thicken up later Friday ahead of an approaching cold front with showers and thundershowers developing before midnight. This front then stalls in a NE -SW fashion right over PEI on Saturday. At the same time, an area of low pressure will begin to approach from the south. Both of these systems should be enough to maintain clouds and showers though much of the day. Skies clear for Sunday as high pressure approaches from the west setting the stage for a sunny warm period of weather which stretches into the middle of next week.
Precipitation… Possible showers and thundershowers later today. Showers and possible thundershowers begin again Friday evening ending Saturday evening.
Temperatures… Generally above normal next few days followed by a cool weekend. Summer heat arrives Tuesday.
Wind… Light SE winds today shifting to light-brisk SW for tomorrow and Friday. NW winds on the weekend in the wake of the cold front. SW winds return for Monday.
Hazards… Wet driving conditions in any rain later today.
