Sunday, June 16th 6:30am… The systems which gave the rain yesterday to PEI have moved off to the east and high pressure is building in from the west. This will give lots of sunshine to the is;and today but temps will be on the cool side thanks to a northerly flow off the water. High cloudiness expected later tomorrow associated with a warm front approaching from the west. Any shower activity looks to remain across western NB. The area of high pressure that crosses today now shifts to the south allowing winds to become SW. This will allow a surge of very warm and humid air to flow northward into the Maritmes with possible record breaking high temperatures as we move into Wednesday. The heat continues into Thursday but clouds will begin to spread across the region ahead of a cold front dropping down from the north. Showers and possible thundershowers should begin in the afternoon. Frontal passage occurs during the evening with showers ending by midnight. Sunshine and cooler temps expected for Friday and Saturday under high pressure. That front then moves north again as a warm front on Sunday accompanied by clouds and showers.
Precipitation… Next chance of showers appears to be on Thursday associated with the cold frontal passage. Showers again on Sunday with the warm front.
Temperatures… Normal next couple days. The heat arrives Tuesday peaking on Wednesday and Thursday with temps in the low-mid 30’s possible. Cooler conditions return on Friday.
Wind… Light-brisk NW winds this morning but should be diminishing through the afternoon. Light-brisk SW winds redevelop later tomorrow which then continues though Thursday. Winds then shift to the north for Friday in the wake of the cold frontal passage.
Hazards… Nil next couple days. Hot and humid conditions for Wednesday and Thursday
Watches/Warnings… None for PEI at this time. Heat advisories may be required Wednesday and Thursday as temps climb into the low 30’s.
