Sunny conditions expected next few days across PEI.

Monday, June 17th 6:00am… An area of high pressure will remain south of the Maritimes over the next few days. A warm frontal passage later Tuesday will be accompanied by some higher clouds but not expecting any rain. The warm front will introduce some hot humid air to the region with possible record setting temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday. A cold front then begins to approach from the northwest Thursday afternoon with showers and possible thundershowers. This frontal passage which occurs Thursday night will also bring relief from the heat and humidity as we get into the cooler airmass. Friday starts out under cloud and showers as the front is slow to move SE  but we should see clearing through the afternoon. Sunshine expected for Saturday and Sunday with high pressure to the NW. Monday is looking cloudy and wet another warm front approaches.

Precipitation… Next chance for rain appears to be Thursday afternoon through Friday morning followed by Monday.

Temperatures… Above normal next few days with the core of the heat and humidity expected on Wednesday and Thursday with temps in the low-mid 30’s. Humidex values will be quite high as well. Cooler air arrives in the wake of the cold front on Friday but stays above normal.

Wind… Light-brisk SW flow over the next few days. Winds shift to the NW late Thursday marking the cold frontal passage.

Hazards…The heat and humidity on Wednesday and Thursday will be hazardous for outside activities. Stay hydrated.

Watches/Warnings… None for PEI at this time but anticipate a heat advisory or warning to be in effect for Wednesday and Thursday.
