Wednesday, June 19th 5:45am… A light-brisk SW flow across PEI continues today as an area of high pressure remains stalled just south of NS. This will result in a surge of hot humid air across PEI today under mainly sunny skies. These conditions will continue into tomorrow as well but clouds will begin to invade though the afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front from the NW with showers and thundershowers developing in the afternoon. Sunny and cooler conditions expected on the weekend in the wake of this front with a light NW flow. The front, which is now south of the Maritimes will actually begin to reverse and lift back to the north as a warm front on Sunday resulting in a return to cloudy skies and rain developing through the afternoon. Conditions remain settled on Monday inside the warm sector as low pressure passes through the northern Gulf. The accompanying cold front then sweeps eastward across PEI Monday evening bringing an end to the rain followed by clearing skies leading to a sunny Tuesday and Wednesday.
Precipitation… Showers and thundershowers develop tomorrow afternoon ending before dawn Friday morning,. Some of these could be locally heavy. Rain begins Sunday mid afternoon tapering to showers Sunday evening, Chance of showers on Monday.
Temperatures… Oppressive heat and humidity expected today, tonight and tomorrow. Relief comes tomorrow night in the wake of the cold frontal passage. More normal conditions begin Friday.
Wind… Light-brisk SW-W flow today and tomorrow. Winds then shift to the NW-N tomorrow evening marking the cold frontal passage. Light W-N winds on Friday and Saturday shift back to the south on Sunday. Brisk-strong SW winds possible on Monday.
Hazards… Heat and humidity will make things uncomfortable today through tomorrow evening especially for those engaged in outdoor activities. Stay Hydrated.
