Sunshine continues today across PEI followed by rain for tomorrow.

Saturday, June 22nd 6:00am… The cold front that moved across PEI late on Thursday remains stalled in a east-west fashion just south of the southern tip of NS this morning and continues to give rain to the part of the Maritimes. PEI should remain mostly sunny today with that cloud deck just to our south. The front then begins to lift north tomorrow as a warm front with some rain developing during the afternoon. This rain will be heavy at times through the evening and overnight hours. An area of low pressure located in eastern Quebec will ripple eastward along the frontal boundary passing right across the Maritimes Monday morning with the rain coming to an end Monday night as this feature shifts east over Newfoundland. Sunshine expected for Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure passes by to the south of the Maritimes. Showers return near dawn Thursday morning with the approach of another cold front followed by sunshine for Friday and Saturday.

Precipitation… Rain begins tomorrow afternoon becoming heavy at times by evening then ending Monday night giving a total rainfall of 50-70 mms province wide. There could be a few leftover showers lingering into Tuesday morning.  Showers again all day Thursday.

Temperatures… At or above normal this period.

Wind… Light SW winds today will increase to become brisk southerly later tomorrow peaking near dawn Monday morning with gusts to 60 KMH. Winds shift and diminish to light northerly late Monday afternoon as the area of low pressure passes through. Light northerlies continue Tuesday then shift and increase to brisk SW on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hazards… Wet driving conditions in rain beginning tomorrow afternoon. Significant rain fall expected may cause water issues for those prone to water problems. Gusty winds for those on the water early Monday morning.
