Wednesday, May 15th 6:30am… A quasi-stationary ridge of high pressure over the Maritimes this morning will continue to give sunshine to PEI today but clouds will begin to build in tonight ahead of a weakening slow moving cold front. There are a few showers on this front but latest guidance has this precipitation basically diminishing as the front weakens over the region leaving just cloudy periods. What’s left of the front stalls over PEI tomorrow as it continues to weaken. High pressure builds back in over the region on Friday with sunshine. Cat and mouse game on the weekend as a disturbance passes south of NS,. This feature may spread some cloud across the island but guidance is keeping any rain off shore. High pressure should continue to dominate with more sun than cloud right through Tuesday. Long range models are hinting at an area of low pressure approaching from Ontario with some cloud and showers possible later Wednesday.
Precipitation… Not much rainfall expected this period. Slight chance tonight into tomorrow associated with that weakening and stalling cold front. Better chance on Wednesday.
Temperatures… At or above normal this period.
Wind… Not a lot of wind expected either next few days. Light SE-S winds today will shift to the NE later tomorrow indicating frontal passage. Light NE winds continue Friday then increasing to brisk easterly on Saturday evening then light-brisk SE on Sunday.
Hazards… Nil
