Thursday, June 13th 6:15am… A mix of sun and cloud expected today across the island as high pressure passes by to the south. A cold front will begin to approach the Maritimes tomorrow with showers developing through the mid-late evening. This front then stalls in a NE-SW fashion across western PEI on Saturday resulting in a showers for most of the day. Some tropical air may get entrained into this system enhancing rainfall as a low pressure system, which originated in the tropical Atlantic rides the front. Rain should end near midnight Saturday night as both these systems move away to the east resulting in a sunny Sunday. A nice long stretch of sunny hot weather continues next week as high pressure settles in south of the Maritimes ensuring a persistent SW flow of warm muggy southern air.
Precipitation… Showers begin Friday evening ending Saturday evening giving 5-15 mms. The higher amounts are expected across Prince county where the front actually stalls with the lower amounts across Kings. Possible showers on Thursday next week otherwise a few days of dry weather
Temperatures… Generally above normal except for the weekend when temps are expected to be cooler.
Wind… Brisk SW winds today and tomorrow shifting and diminishing to light NW on Saturday in the wake of the cold frontal passage. Brisk northerlies develop on Sunday which then back off and diminish to light SW on Monday.
Hazards… Wet driving conditions in rain Friday evening through Saturday evening.
