Sunday, June 30th 7:00am… Clouds and showers continue today across PEI with a risk of thundershowers ahead of a cold front approaching from the west. This front is expected to cross the island just after midnight tonight then stall in a NE-SW fashion along the Atlantic coast of NS for tomorrow then drift off to the east on Tuesday. The showers that are currently falling should come to an end before dawn tomorrow but if that front stalls a bit closer than the showers could linger into Monday especially eastern PEI being closer to the source. Skies should clear from the west beginning Monday morning as an area of high pressure builds in but eastern areas may stay cloudy under the influence of that cold front stalled to the east. Some high clouds spread across the region later Wednesday associated with a warm front but not expecting any rain. A weakening cold front will be approaching from the west on Thursday with a chance of showers later in the day or early Friday morning. Sunshine returns for Friday and Saturday under high pressure.
Precipitation… Showers at times heavy today and tonight which may be accompanied by thunder ending by dawn tomorrow. The showers could linger a little longer across eastern areas. Chance of showers later Thursday into early Friday morning.
Temperatures… Near normal this period although Wednesday and Thursday are looking warm and muggy.
Wind… Brisk south winds now should shift and diminish to light NW-N tonight marking the cold frontal passage. Light northerlies tomorrow and Tuesday shifting to southerly on Wednesday.
Canada Day Fireworks… Looking rather good. Should be clear skies with a light north wind but it may be cool so take a sweater or jacket. Evening temps near 15.
Hazards… Wet driving conditions in any rain today and tonight. Risk of lightning.
