Saturday, May 18th 6:30am… A mix of sun and cloud expected today across PEI under a ridge of high pressure but unsettled conditions are trying to invade from 2 separate disturbances. Firstly an area of low pressure SE of Cape Cod is slowly moving east and may spread some showers across the region later today. Also there is an upper level disturbance off to the west which is giving some cloud and showers to far western NB is moving east and may spread showers across the island early tomorrow morning. I think more cloud than rain but there could be a sprinkle from the 2 systems over the weekend. Sunshine expected to return for Monday as high pressure builds back in. A cold front approaching from the NW on Tuesday may invite another round of cloud and slight chance of showers as it moves across the island. Cloud and chance of showers continue on Wednesday but the temps with be rather warm and humid. The front slips to the south on Thursday allowing the winds to shift to the NE. The unsettled conditions continue into the weekend.
Precipitation… Slight chance of showers tonight and early tomorrow from 2 systems. (One to the west and another to the south.) A very slight chance of showers on Tuesday. Better chance on Wednesday as the front stalls over the region. Increasing chance of showers for Thursday and Friday. Showers may linger in to the weekend. Not seeing a lot of rain but just increasing chances as we move through next week.
Temperatures… Generally at or above normal this period. Cooler conditions expected next weekend.
Wind… Light-brisk ESE winds developing today then diminishing to light tomorrow and Monday. Brisk SW winds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hazards… Generally quiet.
