Tuesday, May 21st 6:45am… A NE-SW oriented ridge of high pressure currently stretches from Newfoundland to South Caroline and should give sunny warm conditions to PEI today. A weak upper air disturbance moves though tomorrow with some cloud and mark spark off a shower or two. Watching a strong cold front approach from the west later Thursday accompanied by showers and possible thundershowers. Some of these storms could be strong during the late afternoon which may require watches or warnings. Unsettled conditions continue into Friday, Saturday and Sunday as a trough of low pressure remains stalled in an east-west fashions across the Maritimes. This will bring a mix of sun and cloud along with a risk of showers right through the weekend. The long range is hinting at a strong area of low pressure moving into the Maritimes later Monday into Tuesday with rain and wind. This will need watching for the beginning of next week.
Precipitation… There is a risk of showers tomorrow through Saturday with the highest probability on Thursday which maybe accompanied by thunderstorms. Looks like a rain event possible beginning later Monday.
Temperatures… Generally above normal this period.
Wind… Light-brisk SW winds expected today into tonight then diminishing to light tomorrow then briefly shifting to NE tomorrow night. Winds then shift back to the SE on Thursday ahead of the cold front.
Hazards… Wet driving conditions in possible showers beginning tomorrow. Watch for possible thunderstorms developing later Thursday which could become strong.
